You’ve probably heard of Marie Kondo, or KonMari, at this point since she’s become a Netflix sensation with her latest series “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo“. Before that, though, she wrote an inspiring book called The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, which led the Japanese author and professional organizer to have her bestseller published in more than 30 countries!
The KonMari method can be simplified to this: You gather all of your belongings, separating them by category, and then decide what “sparks joy” for you personally in each category. If it sparks joy, it stays and needs a home, and if it doesn’t, you thank it and get rid of it!
Now, this method is traditionally applied to the home — your clothes, your books and papers, and miscellaneous other items that are cluttering your closets, shelves, and drawers. But why not a wedding? Why not a birthday party? At Overeasy Events, we believe that it’s our job to help you focus on those aspects of your celebration that “spark joy” as Marie Kondo would say. What are the components of your unique event that are most important to you? Here are a few ways that Overeasy Events can help you KonMari your next event! Give us a call to learn more.
Let’s break down your celebration into manageable categories. Sometimes it’s tricky to know where to start when you’re planning an event, especially a large one! There are vendors to be contracted and communicated with, space to rent and stage, and the list of details to take care of seems like it multiplies every time you look at it! Our team at Overeasy Events will help you to think of your event planning in terms of categories like Vendors, Event Decor/Design, and Day-Of Logistics. We can even create an “a la carte” proposal for you based on your specific needs and desires throughout the process.
Have you created a budget? We can help you decide what the most important aspects of your event are so that it’s easier to decide where to spend your hard-earned dollars! If florals are the most important thing to you, you may want to allocate more of your budget there or maybe gourmet catering is what you’ve been dreaming of for years…either way, we’re here to help navigate that process.
When you think about your big event, which aspect brings you the most joy? We want to make sure that you’re involved in tasks and decisions that are meaningful and inspiring to you, but that we can take some of the stress out of the planning process by tackling tasks that certainly don’t spark joy.

We’re excited to introduce another one of Overeasy Event’s fabulous team members, Allie Harvard. Allie is one of our Event Planner/Coordinators (she started as an Overeasy Intern)!
Allie is a graduate of UCF’s Rosen College of Hospitality and explains that her “passion is rooted in helping others, planning, and of course, celebrating!”. She appreciates that this industry is a personal one; you have the opportunity to create meaningful relationships with the clients and see the event from their unique perspectives, as well as from the perspectives of the various vendors and even the guests! She says that it is very fulfilling to make memories that will last someone a lifetime and to exceed their expectations in the process.
Owner Lora DeLorenzo says that “in full support of the Overeasy Events team, [Allie] quickly grasped the fast paced environment, multitasking on emails and event contracts. Allie is definitely able to prioritize the daily workload and complete projects within time constraints.”
Allie’s favorite part of her job is communicating with and getting to know each individual client. She elaborates that “once you know their personality and the event they envision, their excitement is contagious”. We agree, and feel that Allie’s excitement is contagious, too!
“[Allie] has an amazing personality that really shines through when she meets with a prospective client looking to host a celebration at any of the amazing venues we work with throughout Central Florida. I have observed her enjoyment in all types of party planning!” says Lora.
We asked Allie what some of her sources of inspiration were and she remarked that her family has always been an incredible support system and inspiration to her. In the field of hospitality, though, she says that she really looks up to Walt Disney. Her favorite quote of his is “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible”.
Check out some more of Allie’s answers to our questions:
Outside of work, what are some of your favorite things to do?
I love spending time with my loved ones, including my pup. I enjoy being outside, traveling, and gardening.
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be? Why?
Although I’ve already been, I would have to say Italy. It’s picturesque scenery and delicious food is hard to beat.
What is one of the best events you’ve ever attended?
I really enjoyed a wedding that took place in the bride’s backyard. It was quaint and had character while feeling natural.
Looks like Allie will be planning her own wedding, soon! Congrats to Allie and her fiancé!
What is your “guilty pleasure”?
Always buying more flowers!
What is something that most people don’t know about you?
I played D1 volleyball for FAU.
If you could have lunch with one person, alive or dead, who would that be?
Although there are many influential people throughout history I would love to meet and talk to, I would have to say someone who has passed in my personal life.
Keep an eye out for Allie as you work with Overeasy Events on your next celebration!
If you missed our Christmas in July celebration a couple of weeks ago at East End Market’s monthly Evening Exchange, you’re in luck — here’s a recap so that you’ll feel just like you were there!
Too excited about your own holiday event planning this year to read about Christmas in July? It’s okay, we understand that too. You’ll want to scroll to the bottom for more information on how Overeasy Events can help you get your winter wonderland in the works today!
Christmas in July
On July 19th, we partnered with some spectacular friendors to host a memorable Christmas in July experience for our #OvereasyDateNight guests in our suite at East End Market. We invited the wonderful folks from Omarvelous Productions to set up their famous Slow Motion Video Booth, which certainly did not disappoint. With coaching throughout the whole experience, our guests were happy to see how their videos turned out. We had a whole slew of holiday-themed props to make the video even more magical – everything from confetti poppers and fake “snow” to inflatable champagne bottles and mistletoe!
Additionally, we loved having Chef Michelle Hulbert from Cuisiniers there to host a cookie decorating workshop for participants! She taught us techniques like “flooding” and even gave away delicious prizes for winners of holiday trivia! Some of the cookies tasted better than they looked, but all of our guests had a chance to show off their unique creative style!
Guests were also treated to one of two signature holiday cocktails (recipes below) while they learned a little bit more about Overeasy Events’ services. We love to share our “why” with potential future clients and explain just how much we love the work that we do and the clients that continue to make it incredibly meaningful and special.
White Christmas cocktail
6 oz Rum Chata
2 oz Peppermint Schnapps
Candy Canes (optional)
In a shaker, add ice and the Rum Chata/ Peppermint Schnapps.
Shake thoroughly to combine.
Pour evenly into two glasses.
Add a candy cane if desired
Blood orange spritzer
1/4 c. blood orange juice
1 tbsp. Aperol
Blood orange twist, for serving
Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add blood orange juice and Aperol and shake well, 1 minute.
Strain into champagne coupe and top with sparkling wine. Serve with blood orange twist.
We hope that this date night opportunity was a chance for these friends and couples to get away from their “normal” for an evening and enjoy all that we had to offer (in addition to the fun and excitement of the other Evening Exchange vendors!).

While we do plan and coordinate many a wedding (and love doing it!), we also work on other types of event planning as well – including corporate event planning. Over the past few years, Chepenik Financial has trusted Overeasy Events with planning for their Happy Hour event to kick off their annual 4.01k Race for Financial Fitness™, benefitting Junior Achievement at Quantum Leap Winery. With close to 100 guests in attendance, our role has been to ensure that the presentation and display is beautiful, that delicious catering from Cuisiniers runs smoothly, and that other vendors like valet parking and music are in place to add to the professional ambiance of this fun event.
A representative from Chepenik noted that “arrangement for the venue, dinner, and transportation were handled in a professional and flexible manner. The venue was fully prepared for run through by the time of our arrival”.
Guests were greeted by representatives from VIP Valet upon arrival and then Steven Miller Photography did an excellent job of capturing the warm, inviting feel of this wine-centered event. Guests were free to wander about the venue and enjoy menu selections such as charcuterie du jour, fried green tomatoes, chicken & biscuits, Maryland crab cakes, and brisket or beef sliders. All the while, musician Joseph Meadows of Brown Bag Entertainment entertained guests with a three-piece band (on Instagram @brownbagb).
In 2017, the menu included other delicious eats such as sugar cane skewered tuna, empanadas de carne, and chicken burger sliders, again thanks to the fabulous Cuisiniers. The entertainment was musician John Frank (you can find him on Instagram at @johnwfrank).
In 2017, an exciting part of the event was the release of Jean Chatzky‘s book, Age Proof: Living Longer Without Running Out of Money or Breaking a Hip. Jean, Financial Editor of NBC’s TODAY Show was in attendance at the event as a celebrity spokesperson and ‘coach’ for the race. This year, Jean returned to share her newest book, Women with Money: The Judgement-Free Guide to Creating the Joyful, Less Stressed, Purposeful (and Yes, Rich) Life You Deserve. Jean signed copies of her book and greeted guests as they enjoyed the event.
To ensure that Chepenik Financial was able to fully enjoy this event, before and during, Overeasy Events’ staff was present to create a seamless event and to make sure that no detail was left out. We provided an on-site Event Coordinator to manage the day-of event setup and to create a memorable experience for the guests and organizers from conception to completion.
Another member of the Chepenik Financial team remarked, after the event: “Thanks so much! What an amazing event. Everything was perfect.”
You can read more about the wonderful Chepenik Financial team here! They were awarded 2019 large team of the year by PLANSPONSOR after being recognized as a finalist! Cheers to you, Chepenik!
We’re so excited to introduce you to one of our former clients, Kailey, and to recount the story of her beautiful (and oh-so-much-fun) summer wedding two years ago!
On June 3, 2017, Kailey Miller became Kailey Sexton* when she married her hilarious now-husband, Corey. Their gorgeous, tropical-meets-modern-glam wedding took place right here in Winter Park, FL – the bride’s hometown – and even the Central Florida heat and summer thunderstorms could not ruin this stunning day. The bride and her family chose Overeasy Events to make their vision for the weekend a reality and we’re thrilled that we were able to do just that.
Kailey writes, “Hiring Lora to help with the planning and coordination of my wedding was one of the best decisions we made. She helped me sort through my ideas to create my perfect wedding day. She met with us on many occasions to make sure she really understood my vision and then guided me through the process of bringing my ideas together. She thought of details I would never have considered and so, when the wedding day came, I had nothing to worry about besides marrying my husband!”
Kailey’s vision included luxurious pops of rose gold, as much greenery as could fit into each space, and the comfort and charm of Park Avenue and Winter Park where she’s spent the majority of her life. We really wanted all of these components to highlight another incredibly unique aspect of this wedding – thewedding gown designed and handmade by the bride herself!
Kailey’s love of playful florals and soft, gray-purple hues mixed with her affinity towards a modern twist in décor and accents made for a stunning day at both theWomen’s Club of Winter Park (ceremony) and theWinter Park Community Center (reception). We helped Kailey and her family to select complementary vendors such asPorch Therapy for the florals andTara McGovern for the photography because it’s important to take into account how your vendors will enhance one another to assist in creating the exact event “vibe” that you desire!
Kailey’s ceremony was a tremendous celebration of her love for Corey, his love for her, and their mutual love and faith in the Lord. There was not a dry eye in the audience as they sang their first worship song as a married couple and recited their vows. Then, after some fun pictures on Park Ave’s picturesque brick roads, the couple and their crew made their way to the reception for an absolutely delicious dinner buffet, thanks toCuisiniers, and scrumptious desserts, thanks toP is for Pie. Kailey opted for some non-traditional entertainment and hiredOrlando Dueling Pianos so that guests could dance to an upbeat mix of classics and new favorites after dinner. Not surprisingly, the guests didn’t leave the dance floor until it was time for the newlyweds to make their grand exit for the evening, which wouldn’t have been complete without glowing peacock rings – a favor that highlighted Winter Park’s majestic mascot!
Kailey’s mom, Lucia, had this to say about working with us on her daughter’s special day: “We had such a high level of comfort working with Lora. It helped to make our daughter’s wedding day much more relaxed. Just knowing that she and her staff were taking care of the details so we could be focused on enjoying the day.”
We were honored to serve as Kailey’s planner, crisis manager, stylist, and more throughout her wedding planning process and during the weekend of her big day!
*If you recognize Kailey’s name, it may be because we worked so well together that we decided to bring her onboard our Overeasy Events team last year! Look for her when you’re planning your next event!
We were honored to be a part of Sam and Michael’s wedding at East End Market a few weeks ago along with their other fabulous vendors (see below). We’ve teamed up with photographer + friendor (friend-vendor!) Steven Miller to recap their special day for you all!
One of our favorite things about both Sam and Michael is just how laid back and casual they both are. It can feel somewhat chaotic to be getting prepped and ready for a wedding at East End Market during a busy Saturday, but these two are very go-with-the-flow and were ultimately focused on ensuring that their families and friends had an amazing time at their celebration (spoiler alert: they did!). One of the coolest parts about getting married at East End Market (or holding any event there, for that matter) is that there are a multitude of locations to take pictures before, during, and after. Depending on what types of backgrounds you prefer, there is really something for everyone!
Sam and Michael hosted their wedding in the Audubon Ballroom at East End Market, which was perfect for the amount of guests and provided plenty of space for laughing, dancing, and eating. It provided the perfect transitional space to move from the ceremony to the reception smoothly. Steven also remarked that they “LOVED that Sam and Michael wanted to get married at East End Market, which is such an eco-friendly venue here in Orlando; just our kind of style!”.
Sam and Michael are unique by today’s ‘wedding standards’ because they preferred to keep things beautifully simple. They included their friends and family heavily throughout the day and let us talk about a group of people who were helpful, focused, and fun to be around! Steven mentioned that he hoped it wouldn’t be the last time he got to photograph them (hint, hint?!). Their day also stands out due to the personalized details that they chose to incorporate; things like their processional music selection, table decor, and even their “lego selves”, which truly expressed their fun personalities!
Steven Miller was kind to comment on his partnership with our Overeasy Events team throughout the course of this wedding day. He said, “Overeasy was crucial in making sure that our couple and their plans stayed on schedule, making our day much easier! We could instead focus on more creative ideas for photos rather than constantly checking the time! They were also a great go-to option for any questions we had!” We LOVE working with your team, too, Steven!

The heat of summer is upon us (isn’t it always?)! Here are 3 tips for summer event planning so that you won’t have to sweat it – figuratively of course, because we’ll all be sweating!
Send Invites Early. The conventional wisdom around sending out invites for an event says anywhere between 3-6 weeks, depending on what type of event you’re planning. For summer events, though, it may be best to err on the side of caution since folks tend to travel and plan their vacations in advance. If you want the majority of your guest list to attend, make sure to give plenty of advance notice.
Consider the Weather. In Florida, we’re constantly thinking about the weather, which is helpful when we’re considering our event planning timeline and logistics. Something to think about is the time needed for setup and breakdown of an event — are these scheduled times right in the middle of a daily afternoon shower? It’s likely going to be very hot for most, if not all, of your event. Have you planned for fans, shade for guests, plenty of water, and an indoor rain contingency plan if you’re hosting guests outside?
Think Through Theme. I know that summer screams “beach bash” and “tropical luau”, but not every summer shindig needs to revolve around palm trees and water. Not that those things aren’t great! They certainly are. But, think outside of the box with me for just a minute. What about a carnival, a cruise-inspired celebration, an under the sea party, or a Midsummer Nights Dream fairytale event? The options are endless!
Certainly, there are more than just 3 tips to any successful event (starting with hiring a trusted event planner!), but this is a start! Let us know what your best summer event planning tips and tricks are, too!
We’ve all seen the photos on Pinterest — Cute labradoodle wearing tutu and dainty flower crown carries ring box down the aisle and doesn’t even stop to lick adoring guests along the way.
If you’re imagining a wedding (or any celebration for that matter!) that includes your furry friends, here are some creative ways to incorporate them into your event that you may not have considered.
Pets on Paper
Maybe your pet doesn’t quite understand the concept of petiquette well to attend the celebration itself and, you know, that’s okay – we can’t all have a beautiful wedding with well-trained animals to boot (we can guarantee you that beautiful wedding, though)! Instead of inviting Rover to the ceremony, invite guests to the ceremony using Rover!
Save-the-dates and invitations are great ways to feature a beloved animal that only capture their very best side. Whether it’s a photo or a drawing, guests are sure to be drawn to your furry (or scaly — no judgement) friends. A wonderful example are these custom save-the-dates by the talented Lindsay Sacco, a local artist and owner of Sacco Studios. Check out her Etsy shop for more! If you love what you see, let Lindsay know that you’re an Overeasy Events customer for a 10% discount.
Other ways to incorporate animals on paper include event-musts like the seating chart, the welcome sign, the program, or even a paper fan in the shape of little Luna’s kitten face (for those outdoor weddings)! If you want your pet to be more of the theme than just a small detail, this could be a great way to highlight them “from afar”. The question to ask yourself here is “how prominently do I want my pet to be featured?”.
Pets in the Processional
This isn’t necessarily a “new” idea, but maybe you didn’t realize that you could give your pet(s) the invite without giving them any responsibility! Best of both worlds for that puppy that just won’t sit still with your groomsmen for the entire ceremony. Designate a couple of friends or family members as the ‘pet handlers’ and have them process down the aisle before your wedding party with your pet(s). Guests will get the chance to ooh and aah over your babies, but those babies won’t get in trouble for slobbering all over the rings (because they didn’t need to carry them)! Once the animals have made it down the aisle, they’re escorted to the back of the venue or out of the venue completely by their handlers and you don’t need to worry about whether or not they’re causing mischief while you’re saying “I do”!
Pets in Pictures
If your pet is lucky enough to warrant an invite to the day-of celebration, they could always sneak into a few pictures before or after the main event. Just make sure to let your photographer know ahead of time so that they can plan accordingly. Likely, you won’t want them in every single shot, so make sure there is someone waiting to bring them to and from the photo shoot.
If you don’t want to worry about your animal(s) during the big day, that’s okay too! It does not make you a bad fur-parent. Perhaps including your creatures in your Engagement photos would be a better idea or creating a totally separate shoot to focus on your little family. If the idea of a first look doesn’t appeal to you and you’re okay with seeing your partner all dressed up before the real deal, you could ask your photographer to take some “dress rehearsal” pictures and bring your pet along. That way, when you look back, it will seem like they were there on the big day (when really, they were snoozing happily at a Doggie Daycare).
Pets in Place Settings
If all-pet-everything sounds a little bit over the top to you, maybe incorporating your animal(s) into something slightly less visible, like a guests’ place card, is for you! Little Fido’s face sure would look nice next to your Aunt-at-table-12’s name. This smaller detail ensures that each and every guest knows just how important Fido is, but it allows you to go in a non-Fido direction, thematically (because gray-blue florals and succulents are the real theme!).
Another adorable way to spotlight the little cuties is to order custom linens for each place setting! This is certainly a pricier option than something like name cards, but the impact is greater, too. These cocktail napkins, by locally owned Lettermade, would be stunning on any tablescape and could be created to complement your color scheme. They’d even double as a sweet favor if you wanted them to!
If cocktail napkins aren’t your cup of tea, there are any number of ways to feature your fur baby in the form of a favor! Personalized cookies are a fairly common, delicious way of doing just that, but here are some other ideas for pet-related guest gifts: luggage tags, printed cups, stickers, or even a pop socket! Make sure to order a few extra because you know you’ll want to treat yourself to this favor, too!
Do you have other ideas for incorporating man’s best friend into a celebration?! Let us know – we’d love to hear about them!
When was the last time you went out for a date night?A real dress-up-signature-cocktail-photo-op date night. We’re talking anything from a good ol’ fashioned ladies night to a romantic date with your bae (do people still use that term?!). If your answer was any date that you could remember (Valentine’s Day doesn’t count!), you’re winning at life! Congratulations. If, like most of us, your answer was something like, “when was the last time I went out for anything remotely like a ‘date night’?” then read on!
We had a unique opportunity to create our Overeasy Date Night concept when East End Market, our beloved home, announced that they were going to be hosting an event called Evening Exchange (#EvEx). This (genius) concept brought locals together to experience the magic of East End’s vendors – crafts, cuisine, cocktails, and more! Since we’re proud to call East End home, we decided that we wanted to offer guests a special opportunity to learn more about our event planning services as well. How could we help guests to see what event planning is all about in just a few minutes? Light bulb moment – the #OvereasyDateNight was born.
It’s really pretty simple, actually. We were determined to help guests unplug and unwind in a beautiful, elegant environment to mirror that one-of-a-kind date night feeling: no stress, delicious food, a flirty cocktail, and a picture to prove that you got dressed up and left the house! All of that, for free, in 10 minutes. And guess what?! We loved it. You loved it. Everyone loved it! We had young married couples, best friends, and everyone in between sign up to participate in our first Overeasy Date Night. Thanks to our incredible vendor partners (listed below), we were able to provide guests with a few luxurious moments to forget about work, anxiety, school, and anything else that might have been on their minds when they arrived. All they had to worry about was the decision between a glass of bubbly or the signature cocktail of the evening, something tasty and mysterious called Pretty in Pink.
The best part? There was no catch. Sure, guests heard a little bit more about Overeasy Events – who we are, what we can offer – but they were under no obligation to sign on any dotted line! Instead, we were able to show them, firsthand, what’s most important to us as doers, dreamers, and designers: a celebration that left guests leaving with a smile.
To our dear friendors (friend + vendors, obviously): THANK YOU! You all made this night incredibly beautiful, delicious, and fun. You added the pops of color, the personalized details, and some laughs along the way. Event planning would be lackluster without the partners whose details come together to build the party of peoples’ dreams!
Wishing you’d taken part in the fun in March? No need to fret – we’re going to do it again! In fact, East End Market is going to be hosting an Evening Exchange on the third Friday of each month so hopefully we’ll get to see you all on April 19 at our second #OvereasyDateNight. This month, we’re trying something else – a scavenger hunt! No reservation necessary, just come to our studio on the second floor when you arrive to participate! We look forward to meeting you!
For folks who choose to come and participate in this #OvereasyDateNight Scavenger Hunt and share the fun on social media, we’ll be selecting a winner at random to receive a giveaway basket filled with goodies!
